Helix sets forth board changes

Helix Resources (ASX:HLX) has appointed Kevin Lynn as the company’s non-executive director, effective from today.

Lynn has over 35 years experience in private and public-listed companies, particularly within the mining, oil and gas sectors. He has held various roles including as a director, CFO, and company secretary.

Executive Chairman Michael Povey says Lynn’s appointment will add “significant skills” to the Helix team.

This appointment comes after Acta Investment and its associate Nuevo Royalty proposed a takeover offer for Helix.

The proportional off-market takeover bid includes privately held Australian investment firm Acta seeking to have three nominees – Michael Povey, Kevin Lynn, and David Scoggin – appointed to Helix’s board.

On 8 January 2025, Mining.com.au reported Acta’s lawyers Hall & Wilcox issued a notice to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) declaring all remaining defeating conditions being lifted regarding the takeover.

Helix Resources is a copper-focused explorer that holds a portfolio of projects in the Cobar region of New South Wales. The company’s tenement package comprises 3,200km2 in a largely untested area.
