Helix Resources reports further visible copper sulphides at Canbelego

Helix Resources (ASX: HLX) has encountered thick zones of visible copper sulphide mineralisation following diamond drilling at the Canbelego main lode within its Canbelego JV Project in New South Wales.

The results, generated via two diamond drill holes, have succeeded in defining a wide, anomalous copper zone that presents an up-dip extension of the new western lodes, with drill hole CANDD006 returning grades up to 5.3m @ 3.34% Cu.

Speaking on the results, Helix Resources Managing Director Mike Rosenstreich said: “We are building up a very active program initially focused on drilling along the Rochford Trend and building up the copper mineralisation around Canbelego. It is also very pleasing to have continued to locate further visual copper sulphide hits which continue to demonstrate the fertile nature of our ground in the well-endowed Cobar basin of NSW.

It is also very pleasing to have continued to locate further visual copper sulphide hits which continue to demonstrate the fertile nature of our ground”

In addition to further successful results at Canbelego, we are also extending our work to test a series of earlier stage copper targets along both the Rochford and Collerina copper trends. The team is conducting new surface geochemical sampling programs and geophysical surveys to advance additional regional targets over the entire property portfolio and build up the tempo of exploration activity and news flow.”

The company also notes that it has significantly increased the depth extent of ‘high-grade’ copper mineralisation beneath the base of the current Mineral Resource, and has successfully advanced the geological understanding of the mineralisation trends.

In addition, these recent results provide further support for down-dip potential of the newly-identified Western Lodes, and prove to be consistent with the ‘Cobar Copper Model’ with multiple parallel lodes containing short footprints and long depth dimensions.

The Canbelego JV Project is located within the Cobar region of New South Wales and covers a total land area of approximately 40km². Project ownership is split between Helix (70% + management) and Aeris Resources (ASX:AIS – 30%).

The project’s copper deposit boasts a JORC 2004 Inferred 1.5Mt @ 1.2% Cu (oxide and transition) Mineral Resource, and hosts untested DHEM Conductors.

With the major drilling program at Canbelego main lode, western lodes and Caballero prospect on-going, Helix reports that it has moved forward with geochemical sampling programs and geophysical surveys in order to define additional regional targets over the entire property portfolio.
