Helix drilling expands Bijoux copper mineralisation

Helix Resources (ASX:HLX) has extended copper sulphide mineralisation at its Bijoux prospect, part of the Western Tenements in New South Wales, during a follow-up reverse circulation drilling program.

Infill, extensional reverse circulation, and oriented diamond drilling beneath the deeper copper sulphide intercepts is being considered to test the depth potential and to provide structural information at Bijoux.

The recent follow-up drilling program at Bijoux has expanded the strike of known copper sulphide mineralisation to 290m and remains open at depth.

Helix, which has a market capitalisation of $13 million, reports drilling results include 2m @ 2.92% copper within 26m @ 0.58% copper from 84m; 2m @ 1.83% copper within 10m @ 0.72% copper from 132m; and 2m @ 1.73% copper within 4m @ 1.06% copper from 132m.

Managing Director Kylie Prendergast says the company is following up on the results with further drilling.

“Bijoux is a prime example of the experience and tenacity current management have applied to the company’s large-scale Cobar tenements,” Prendergast says.

“Having been identified and prioritised through a comprehensive geochemical program, the team have worked systematically via further auger and reverse circulation drilling to test our CSA-style copper model.

“Today’s assays validate this approach and continue to highlight that in an area as rich as the Cobar Basin, quality exploration means the company is potentially just one drill hit away from a new discovery.”

Helix notes the northwest half of the copper zone delivered the highest surface copper assays and is immediately along strike from previously defined copper oxide and sulphide mineralisation. This area was the focus for the recently completed reverse circulation drilling program.

Prendergast adds that the company is working across its other prospects and is expecting assays as well as further drilling at the Muriel Tank Gold Project, which continues showing “considerable promise.”

Approvals for drilling at Muriel Tank are being sought to test for extensions to existing “high-grade” gold veins and historical workings.

Meanwhile, results for auger sampling in the Rochford Trend north of the Canbelego Project are expected to be returned later this month. Planning is also in progress for the electromagnetic surveys at the Cobar Joint Venture Project with Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM).

Helix adds programs are currently being prepared and approvals are in place for drilling at Louis, the next “large” area of surface copper anomalism on the Western Group Tenements and for several gold-copper targets in the Eastern Group Tenements.

The Bijoux prospect is located within the Western Group Tenements in the prospective Cobar-Nyngan area of central New South Wales.

Helix Resources is a copper-focused explorer that holds a 3,300km2 ground position in the Cobar region of New South Wales.
