Hammer Metals Ltd (ASX: HMX) has reported broad copper and gold intercepts from drilling conducted at Trafalgar, Shadow, and Even Steven South prospects within the Mt Isa East Joint Venture area in Queensland. HMX said that the intercepts confirm discovery at the previously undrilled Trafalgar prospect.
Significant intercepts in the two holes drilled at Trafalgar included 55m at 1.12% Cu and 0.30g/t Au from 119m including 16m at 1.77% Cu and 0.49g/t Au from 149m in HMTRRC001; and 32m at 1.04% Cu and 0.25g/t Au from 64m including 6m at 2.38% Cu and 1.45g/t Au from 91m in HMTRRC002.
Drilling at Mt Isa East JV
The company had recently conducted RC drilling at the Mt Isa East JV at Trafalgar, Shadow, and Even Steven South prospects.
Results from 4 RC holes
Results have now been reported for the 868m of drilling completed prior to the Christmas break, comprising of two holes at Trafalgar prospect (HMTRRC001 and HMTRRC002), one hole at Shadow prospect (HMSHRC001), and one hole at Even Steven South prospect (HMESRC001).
New copper-gold discovery at Trafalgar
The company announced that at Trafalgar prospect, both holes intersected copper mineralisation with a significant gold credit.
Significant intersections included 55m at 1.12% Cu and 0.30g/t Au from 119m including 16m at 1.77% Cu and 0.49g/t Au from 149m in HMTRRC001 with maximum individual grades of 1.96g/t Au and 3.2% Cu; and 32m at 1.04% Cu and 0.25g/t Au from 64m including 6m at 2.38% Cu and 1.45g/t Au from 91m in HMTRRC002 with a maximum individual of 3.22g/t Au and 7.58% Cu.
The company said that the Trafalgar prospect forms part of an extensive copper-gold soil anomaly that stretches for 2.7km with little previous exploration. The copper mineralisation at Trafalgar is predominantly chalcopyrite and has a peripheral magnetite alteration halo with a central pyrrhotite component. Elevated rare earths accompany the Cu-Au mineralisation.
Encouraging results from Shadow, at Even Steven South
The company said that the drilling at the Shadow prospect intersected 3m at 0.43% copper and 0.14g/t Gold from 140m in HMSHRC001 and drilling at Even Steven South intersected 4m at 0.23% copper and 0.14g/t gold from 120m in HMESRC001.
HMX reported that additional drilling is planned for Shadow as part of this program with further interpretation of these results to continue.
Hammer Metals said that the results of this drilling will be reviewed by the Joint Venture with a view to conducting further evaluation in the next phase of exploration.
Drilling resumes
HMX announced that the drilling at Mt Isa East Joint Venture area had resumed on 12 January and is currently ongoing with drilling planned for the Alpha, Charlie, Juliett, Shadow, and Toby East prospects.
