Soil sampling results suggest the potential for the presence of a “large-scale gold system” at the Anderson Project in Western Australia, Hamelin Gold (ASX:HMG) says.
The results confirm a 3km-long, north-east trending corridor of gold anomalism interpreted to be reflective of bedrock gold mineralisation.
Some of the aircore drilling results within the corridor include 1m @ 4.6 grams per tonne from 27m and 3m @ 2.1g/t gold from 27m.
Managing Director Peter Bewick says the interpretation of multi-element geochemical data has outlined a “major” gold corridor within Wheatbelt — a previously under-explored region of Western Australia.
“Limited historical shallow drilling within this gold corridor delivered strong early-stage exploration results, however without the broader context, the significance of these results was not recognised,” Bewick says.
“The next phase of the exploration program at Anderson will include the first ever bedrock drill testing along the new gold corridor defined at Anderson.”
Hamelin has completed additional surface sampling within the project and is currently preparing for drilling including access discussions with landowners.
In January, Hamelin began a phase-two surface soil sampling program at the Anderson Project after defining strong gold anomalism, as reported by Mining.com.au.
The gold anomalism at Anderson was defined via the company conducting orientation trials of ultrafine analytical technology. Hamelin applied this technology over several targets across its West Tanami Project, and the company says it has provided positive results.
The surface soil sampling program, which began late January, was to target a 3km-long corridor with sampling to be completed on a 200m by 100m grid.
The Anderson Project covers an area of gold anomalism initially uncovered by a regional roadside sampling program completed by now delisted Dominion Mining in the late 1990s.
