Halls Peak antimony potential stands out for Critical Resources

Critical Resources‘ (ASX:CRR) review of exploration data has highlighted the potential for an antimony system at the Halls Peak Base Metals Project in New South Wales

The junior explorer, which has a market capitalisation of $14.24 million, says this latest finding — supported by historical and recent data — suggests the potential for antimony mineralisation within several claims. 

Director Nigel Broomham says the desktop study findings regarding the Halls Peak Project indicates the presence of a gold-antimony system similar to Larvotto Resources’ (ASX:LRV) Hillgrove Project. 

“The combination of high-grade drilling results, significant surface samples, and strong geochemical anomalies clearly highlight the prospectivity of this area for large-scale antimony mineralisation,” Broomham says. 

Further exploration is warranted, including soil sampling or geophysical surveys to define the antimony-rich zones. 

“The elevated antimony values we’ve recorded, notably an intercept of over 20,000 parts per million (ppm) in previous drilling, provide compelling evidence of the potential for a high-grade system,” Broomham says. 

“Additionally, our extensive geological mapping and sampling highlight the widespread nature of antimony mineralisation at surface, suggesting that we are dealing with a system that could extend significantly beyond current estimates.”

Broomham adds the company will prioritise further exploration work, including a detailed soil sampling program and geophysical surveys, with the aim of unlocking the full potential of the Halls Peak Project. 

“We believe that this venture positions Critical Resources at the forefront of the emerging antimony market, and we are committed to advancing our efforts to capitalise on this exciting opportunity,” he says.

The company reports previous drilling intersected elevated antimony assays, including 20,400ppm antimony in drillhole DDHA6 and 10,000ppm antimony in drillhole CRR21DD_01. 

Meanwhile, stream sediment samples were also collected 3km south of the Hillgrove Project, which Critical Resources says further reinforces the prospectivity, with antimony concentrations reaching up to 1,520ppm. 

Critical Resources says Halls Peak’s geological setting mirrors Hillgrove, featuring similar fault-controlled mineralisation systems, which suggest “strong potential” for an extensive and “high-grade” antimony system. 

The proximity to the Hillgrove Project suggests a potential extension of the mineralised system into the surveyed area. 

Critical Resources notes high antimony concentrations in stream sediments often indicate the presence of mineralisation zones nearby, particularly in areas with similar geological characteristics as the Hillgrove area. 

Halls Peak lies 87km south-east of Armidale, a major regional hub in New South Wales. The project is considered prospective for base metals and covers 132km2
