Great Atlantic Resources and HM Exploration Pilley's Island Project in Newfoundland, Canada

Great Atlantic partner advances Pilley’s Island drilling

Great Atlantic Resources (TSX-V:GR) has reported ‘encouraging visual observations’ from the maiden drilling program of partner HM Exploration (CSE:HM) at the Pilley’s Island project in north-central Newfoundland, Canada.

HM Exploration, which has the option to earn 100% of the project, completed five diamond drill holes totalling 1,088m of a minimum 2,500m program.

Three holes intersected massive, semi-massive, and disseminated mineralisation within the Clifford Jones area, intersecting copper-bearing sulphide-clast debris flow mineralisation.

Multiple mineralised intervals were encountered, including 6.27m in hole PI-26-001, 8.00m in PI-26-002, and 6.98m in PI-26-005.

We are very pleased to see HM Exploration advancing the Pilley’s Island project with a disciplined and well-executed maiden drill program … as they support the geological model being tested at the Clifford Jones area,” CEO Christopher Anderson says.

HM Exploration CEO Nick Rodway notes that the grab samples from within the area have returned over 16% copper and that the company is “encouraged to see similar mineralisation intersected in drilling”.

The drilling evaluated the mineralised system’s continuity below known surface showings and along strike of the Clifford Jones zone.

The property is located within the Notre Dame subzone and is underlain by the Buchans-Roberts Arm belt that hosted the historic Buchans mine, with the geological setting directly analogous to the Buchans camp.

Great Atlantic has not verified the drill core intervals, with the company cautioning that visual estimates may not reflect the grade and should not be used as a substitute for laboratory analysis.

HM Exploration plans to continue drilling while awaiting assay results from the initial program.
