Australian resource company Golden Mile Resources (ASX:G88) has taken its next step and has started stage three metallurgical testwork ahead of schedule at the Quicksilver Nickel-Cobalt Project in Western Australia.
The company reports this testwork is designed to further de-risk the proposed flowsheet for the extraction of nickel and cobalt and increase confidence to proceed to a Scoping Study. The testwork follows the completion of 8 diamond drillholes for 548.9m with all samples now delivered to the Bureau Veritas laboratory in Canning Vale.
Golden Mile anticipates that assay results will be received in about 4 to 6 weeks, and final metallurgical results are expected in about 12 to 16 weeks.
Wood has been engaged to design and manage the metallurgical testwork program, which will be completed at Bureau Veritas. Around 1,600kg of bulk sample will be tested comprising 2 100kg samples per hole.

Following the main test program, Golden Mile will also incorporate additional studies, subject to remaining sample availability, to explore further downstream options.
These options will include rare earth element (REE) extraction potential, secondary nickel products suitable for electric vehicle (EV) batteries, ‘high value’ industrial products, and scandium extraction potential.
The company anticipates there will be enough sample remaining from the large diameter PQ diamond core to also begin investigations into the metallurgical properties of the REE mineralisation.
Golden Mile Resources is a Western Australia-based resource company focused on the Quicksilver Nickel-Cobalt Project which is located about 300km southeast of Perth. The company has delineated an indicated and inferred resource of 26.3 million tonnes @ 0.64% Ni and 0.04% Co.
