Golden Horse rides high on shallow gold hits at Hakes Find

Golden Horse Minerals (ASX:GHM) has received final assays from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Hakes Find prospect, returning ‘high-grade’ shallow intersections that confirm the continuation of mineralisation over more than 500m of strike.

The program included 49 holes for a total of 3,346m of drilling, with selected holes submitted for multi-element evaluation. It aims to define the style and type of mineralisation at Hakes Find, which sits 10km south of Southern Cross.

Key intersections include:

  • 6m @ 5.94 grams per tonne gold from 34m, within a broader zone of 11m @ 3.37g/t gold from 33m
  • 3m @ 3.87g/t gold from 57m
  • 5m @ 1.39g/t gold from 27m
  • 18m @ 0.97g/t gold from 35m

Shallow gold hits confirm mineralisation continuity and multi-element upside

The results also highlighted ‘high-grade’ silver at Hakes Find, with results including 4m @ 211g/t silver from 55m within a broader zone of 16m @ 62g/t silver from 54m.

The multi-element assay results show the potential geochemical relationship between silver and gold at a 17:1 ratio, when results of 0.5g/t gold and higher were returned.

They also demonstrate a positive correlation between gold-arsenic and gold-sulphur.

Drilling is now also underway at the Greenmount project, around 5km south of Southern Cross. Previous drilling at the project included ‘high-grade’ intersections, including 5m @ 15.7g/t gold from 133m and 3m @ 9.31g/t gold from 101m.

Alongside its RC drilling campaign, the company has an ongoing large soil sampling program across 5.5km of untested land across the Southern Cross greenstone belt and an additional 500m extent of historic mining at Withers.

At Hopes Hill, assays have been returned from the lab from four holes across Hopes Hill and Hopes Hill North. Highlights include 7.05m @ 7.04g/t gold from 251.9m and 7m @ 1.05g/t gold from 30m, and 3m @ 2.01g/t gold from 40m.

Managing Director Nicholas Anderson says that the results “continue to provide winners” from the drilling at Hakes Find and Hopes Hill.

“With 49 holes drilled at Hakes Find, which is an underexplored historic prospect, we have uncovered mineralised hits across multiple holes — all at shallow depths,” Anderson says.

“These assays prove we’re in the right paddock and further work is clearly validated to improve our understanding of this mineralisation, along with the nearby Greenmount prospect where we have commenced RC drilling near historic workings which include battery sands at surface.

“Our regional drilling will now be guided by geological modelling as well as multi-element analysis, which has identified the potential pathfinder minerals leading to gold mineralisation.

“Establishing a signature for potential gold mineralisation is very valuable and will not only support our exploration at Hakes Find but also our other regional work, where we hold a commanding 130km of strike extent of the well-endowed Frasers Shear Zone, which hosts the majority of gold mineralisation in the Southern Cross greenstone belt.”

Golden Horse is continuing with RC and diamond drilling across Hopes Hill, with core logging and assaying progressing. Results are expected as they are completed.

Additional RC drill programs have also been completed at Marionete/Star of Ennuin. The company is awaiting assay results from the lab, which has been impacted by high workloads.

Other current work programs include soil sampling and drill planning across Golden Horse’s tenure, with RC drilling restarting at various prospects including Greenmount and Hakes Find.

Golden Horse Minerals is a gold exploration company operating in Western Australia’s Southern Cross region.
