Gold continues to shine while Lynas sees a lull in sales: Mining Minute October 20

In today’s Mining Minute, Australian gold miners are on the rise as the Aussie dollar gold price hits a record $3,138 per ounce today, while the Australian dollar stands at US63.3¢. Also, Malaysian-based rare earths miner Lynas says the company’s total sales for the September quarter amounted to $128.1 million, down from $163.8 million in the same quarter last year. Lower rare earths prices and increased buyer inventory are cited as reasons for this drop, with Lynas shares having fallen by 14.5% over the past year, closing recently at $6.41. In other developments, perennial takeover target Liontown has made headlines by securing $376 million in equity at $1.80 per share. This marks a substantial discount from Liontown’s recent closing price of $2.79 on 13 October.
