Gold continues to drive miners higher

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has fallen today (24 September), losing 50.40 points by 10.25am AEST, following the gold price hitting a record high of US$3,750 ($5,684) per ounce yesterday.

As reported by Mining.com.au, the price of gold has risen 11.51% over the past month, returning an increase of 41.21% since this time last year.

Six sectors are performing lower this morning in line with the greater platform, while the material sector has seen a growth of 2.71%.

Deterra Royalties (ASX:DRR) is a top performer in the gains list today, jumping 8.29% to a share price of $4.44 for its sale of non-core gold offtake assets and the St Ives and Dandoko gold royalties for $60 million.

Across the globe, Asian markets are expected to open lower after the Dow Jones lost 89 points in the last trading session.

Europe however saw a mixed session for its platforms with London’s FTSE declining and Germany’s DAX rising.

Gold has seen a steady climb since hitting its record yesterday, currently trading at US$3,767 per ounce, while copper is trading at US$4.58 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling at US$63.70 per barrel while Brent oil is marked at US$67.92 per barrel.

Iron ore is currently valued at US$105.49 per tonne.
