Godolphin Resources (ASX:GRL) has begun a 1,500m diamond drilling program at the Lewis Ponds Gold, Silver, and Base Metals Project in New South Wales.
The program is targeting the upper regions of Lewis Ponds existing resource estimate and aims to upgrade the resource from inferred to indicated in this area. The program will also provide fresh core samples for a metallurgical testwork program, focused on producing precious metal concentrates.
Godolphin anticipates drilling to be completed in December, with results to be released on an ongoing basis over the coming months.
Core samples obtained from the program will be used for metallurgical testwork, which is currently being designed in discussions with specialist metallurgical laboratories.
Managing Director Jeneta Owens says drilling at Lewis Ponds is a key priority for the company and starting the program reflects its commitment and ability to meet relevant permitting requirements.
“The drilling follows extensive planning and preparation works undertaken by management to design an exploration program at Lewis Ponds which we anticipate will unlock considerable value from the asset,” Owens says.
“The first drillhole is now underway, which will allow for ongoing updates on progress.”
The Lewis Ponds Project covers 148km2 and is located 15km east of Orange in the Lachlan Fold Belt of New South Wales.
Godolphin says the project is considered a high-priority due to the extensive gold and base metal workings, as well as its mineral resource of 6.2 million tonnes at 2 grams per tonne gold, 80g/t silver, 2.7% zinc, 1.6% lead, and 0.2% copper.
Multiple undrilled areas exist within the Lewis Ponds mineral resource, which is open in several directions. This provides Godolphin with potential upside for future exploration programs, to grow the mineral resource in the future.
Godolphin Resources is an Australia-based resources company focused on gold, copper, rare earths, and base metals exploration.
The company is attending this year’s Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 13-15 November 2024 at the Peppers Noosa Resort. Mining.com.au is an official media partner for this year’s event.
