Future Battery Minerals reinforces board with appointment of industry veteran

Future Battery Minerals (ASX:FBM) has appointed mining industry veteran Paul Brown as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 1 July 2023.

The company says Brown brings with him ‘extensive’ experience and expertise in the mining industry, with a ‘strong’ track record in various senior executive roles over the last 20 years, as well as a strategic vision that Future Battery Minerals believes could ‘significantly’ contribute to the company’s success and growth.

Future Battery Minerals reports prior to joining the company, Brown held senior executive positions at Minerals Resources (ASX:MIN), where he demonstrated his leadership abilities as Chief Executive – Commodities and Chief Executive – Lithium.

The company notes that Brown has also excelled in multiple disciplines including general management, operational management, technical leadership, project/studies management, business improvement, mineral resource evaluation, and mine planning.

Future Battery Minerals says he has contributed ‘significantly’ to the growth and success of various organisations within the mining industry, including in senior operational roles with renowned companies such as Leighton Holdings, HWE Mining, and Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG).

Brown holds a Masters in Mine Engineering from Federation University in Victoria and possesses mechanical trade qualifications, which further enhance his technical knowledge and proficiency.

Speaking on the appointment, Future Battery Minerals Chairman Mike Edwards says: “We are delighted and honoured that Paul has accepted the invitation to join the FBM Board.

We firmly believe Paul’s extensive experience in the lithium industry, within mining operation, project construction and commercial management, will be highly complementary to FBM’s ongoing focus on the exploration and development at the company’s 80% owned Kangaroo Hills Lithium Project (KHLP) and Nevada Lithium Project (NLP).

“We are delighted and honoured that Paul has accepted the invitation to join the FBM Board.”

We extend to Paul a warm welcome and eagerly await the valuable contribution he will bring to the FBM Board and management.”

Today’s announcement comes following the discovery of a new pegmatite uncovered at the Rocky prospect within Future Battery Minerals’ majority-owned Kangaroo Hills Lithium Project in Western Australia, as announced by the company last week (22 June 2023).

Future Battery Minerals is an ASX-listed Australian exploration company focused on ‘key’ battery minerals including lithium, nickel, and copper across its portfolio of assets in Australia and the US.
