From Utah to the Athabasca: Terra Clean Energy targets multi-asset growth in uranium

Terra Clean Energy (‘Terra’) (CSE:TCEC, OTCQB:TCEFF, FSE:C900) is establishing itself as a North American uranium developer with a clear thesis of advancing proven assets through a diverse portfolio of past-producing and brownfield projects in tier-one jurisdictions.

The company’s portfolio includes projects known to host uranium mineralisation, including the Marysvale Uranium Project in a historic uranium district in Utah, US, the shallow, hard-rock South Falcon East deposit in Saskatchewan, Canada, and the Powder Mountain Project in Wyoming, US. Terra believes these assets offer strong leverage to rising uranium prices. 

The Marysvale Uranium Project in southwestern Utah is a past-producing operation that ran from the 1950s to the 1970s, supplying uranium to the US Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) during the Cold War for the country’s nuclear weapons program. Past production from this project totalled 1.33 million pounds of triuranium octoxide (U₃O₈).

CEO, President, and Director Greg Cameron notes that when the Cold War ended and uranium prices collapsed, government demand through the AEC no longer existed and the mine closed — not because it ran out of U₃O₈, but because prices had fallen.

“These assets were basically left dormant and have been dormant for years,” Cameron says.

Brownfield opportunities provide significant advantages for junior miners, typically with smoother permitting processes and existing infrastructure. 

For Marysvale, Cameron says that while some infrastructure has been under care and maintenance for decades, Utah’s dry climate means much of the infrastructure, including underground workings, roads, and other facilities, remains in good condition.

From a permitting standpoint, Cameron notes that government agencies are more receptive because the area has a history of uranium production, existing tailings, and established mining activity. 

Cameron says Marysvale was an exciting opportunity for the company.

“You don’t find a lot of these types of projects around, so when it became available, we were quite excited to purchase it,” Cameron says. 

“We control 100% of the assets, and since we purchased them in late 2025, we’ve added three times the land position by directly staking a bunch of unpatented Bureau of Land Management (BLM) claims around the asset.”

Marysvale: A brownfield uranium asset poised for rapid restart

Terra controls 20 BLM claims at Marysvale, including six original claims acquired from prospectors who held them for several decades and an additional 14 acquired through direct staking. 

The property covers 380 acres and contains four past-producing mines including the Prospector and Freedom mines, which produced 1.33 million pounds of U₃O₈ at a reported average grade of 0.22%.

“These assets contain a lot of information because they’ve been mined,” Cameron says. 

“We have old drill results, lithology, geology, underground workings, and production history, giving us a good understanding of the uranium system at work here. It is our plan to bring modern mining technology to this project.”

Terra has acquired around 27,000 pages of historic information from US Government and university databases, as well as old operator company records. It has digitised the information into a 3D model, providing the company with a detailed picture of the project and its remaining potential. 

“Through due diligence, discussions with key stakeholders, and visits to the project, our thesis is that there is a lot of uranium remaining in the ground, probably several million pounds that was left in the underground workings,” Cameron says.

“Plus, we believe the epithermal vein system at work here extends in several directions, which would add even more pounds to the project.”

Cameron notes that the infrastructure in place is still in pretty good shape, but has been sealed off by the BLM for safety and security reasons. As Terra begins its drill program in the coming weeks, it will complete initial work before applying for permits to reopen the underground workings.

“We have received work permits from the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining, to begin our inaugural work program including trenching, ground truthing, and an initial 10,000 feet of core drilling. This program will allow us to test the extent of the uranium system and begin to assemble what we believe is millions of pounds of U₃O₈, Cameron says.

“If the project ends up being what we believe it to be, senior uranium producers will surely come and buy this asset from us. The surrounding area has already recently seen a significant transaction this week with IsoEnergy (NYSE:ISOU, TSX:ISO) combining all its Utah-based historic uranium mines with DISA Technologies to create DISA Uranium Corporation. 

Cameron explains that this new venture, which neighbours Terra’s Marysvale Uranium Project, has secured investment from some of the world’s leading resource investors, including BP Ventures, Halliburton Ventures, and Tembo Capital, among others. The investors have committed nearly US$105 million ($148.8 million), valuing the new entity at an implied pro forma equity value of US$505 million.

South Falcon East: Shallow uranium resource with significant upside in grade and pounds

The South Falcon East Project is part of a farm-in agreement with Skyharbour Resources (TSX-V:SYH), a prospect generator company operating in Saskatchewan’s prolific Athabasca Basin.

The asset lies on the fringe of the basin, around 50km east of Cameco’s (TSX:CCO) former Key Lake Uranium open-pit mine and current operating conventional uranium mill. The original Cameco Key Lake mine produced approximately 200 million pounds of U₃O₈ at an average grade of 2%.

“There’s a lot of infrastructure in the area, with a power line 9km from our property and year-round access via two provincial highways,” Cameron says.

Cameron highlights that the current resource at South Falcon East is around 7 million pounds of shallow, at-surface pegmatite-hosted U₃O₈.

A 2025 winter drill program highlighted uranium mineralisation in six of seven holes, confirming the continuity across the deposit. Mineralisation remains open in all directions. Four of the holes from last winter’s drill program contributed to a new thesis around a ‘high-grade’ unconformity deposit on the eastern side of the project, where limited work had previously been completed. 

Vice President of Exploration Trevor Perkins says that the results from Terra’s winter drilling are very encouraging. 

“Drilling has shown that the deposit is still open down dip to the northwest, north, and northeast,” Perkins says.

“The presence of clay alteration within a structure on the northeast side has upgraded this area. The intersection of this clay alteration with the mineralised conductive package is an exciting target, as it can bring together many of the key features associated with the known basement-hosted unconformity deposits in the basin, such as Eaglepoint or Roughrider.”

Terra is fully permitted for its early 2027 drill program. Cameron notes that the team’s goal is to get in by February or March 2027 for follow-up drilling into a very defined target zone (see below).

“We think there are significantly more pounds to add to the 7 million pounds U₃O₈ that is currently there, and it looks like we’re moving towards much higher grades as indicated by last winters drill program,” Cameron says.

“In this type of uranium market, when you’re drilling holes like that, it’s pretty exciting, and I think investors are waking up to the project’s potential as we start to get to work on it.”

Powder Mountain adds further US optionality to the portfolio

Terra’s other US-based project is Powder Mountain, a wholly owned asset comprising 3,395 acres of state leases and BLM unpatented uranium claims in southern Wyoming. 

Cameron notes that past exploration at the project returned grades of up to 0.375% U₃O₈.

Importantly, Powder Mountain is located near enCore Energy’s (NASDAQ:EU, TSXV:EU) Juniper Ridge uranium deposit. Terra believes Juniper Ridge mineralisation extends onto its ground at Powder Mountain, providing strategic options in the current uranium market. 

Cameron says the company is excited to begin investing capital into this project in late 2027.

US Government adds uranium to Critical Minerals List

“The US is the largest market for uranium in the world,” Cameron says. 

“Current demand, not including future growth from new reactors and data centres, is approximately 50 million pounds of U₃O₈ annually with current domestic production accounting for four million pounds U₃O₈ annually. With the delta being imported from other countries, this leaves the US in a precarious position of relying on its enemies to power its country.”

Cameron points to years of underinvestment into the US mining sector, especially across critical minerals, including uranium, which has led to this significant structural deficit.

“The US administration realised it needs to incentivise private capital to invest and develop uranium domestically and has moved to fast track permits, and provide loans and investment to the uranium sector, all to incentivise investment,” Cameron says. 

“That’s why we acquired our US-based assets. We know we have uranium in the ground, we have past-production history, and we think the current US environment is very supportive of bringing private capital in.”

The company has received a strong reception from the Utah Government for the Marysvale Uranium Project, having received permits within weeks of submission.

In Canada, Cameron notes that the Government of Saskatchewan is one of the leading promoters of uranium exploration and mining, but that the government stresses the need to do this responsibly. 

“They are strict and have stringent rules, but as long as you follow them, you get your permits,” Cameron says.

“It’s a great time to be drilling for uranium, and for investors who haven’t looked at the sector, it’s a great time to enter one of these exploration stories.”

2026–27 work programs set for company rerating

Terra Clean Energy is shifting from a build phase of acquiring and permitting assets into a period of sustained newsflow as its portfolio moves into active work programs on its two marquee assets, Marysvale Uranium Project and South Falcon East Uranium Project, a catalyst that Cameron says will “drive a lot of news”. 

“We have a lot of high-impact, company-changing news starting in August,” Cameron says. 

With a tight market capitalisation and a cash position expected to fund its upcoming Utah work program, Cameron believes Terra is entering a period where its valuation can begin to reflect the scale of its uranium opportunity.

“For the market cap we’re at today, and with the cash position we have to execute on our plans, I think we have the makings of a stock that should have a lot of upside in the current uranium market,” Cameron says.
