Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS) reports that it has confirmed lithium-prospective pegmatites from mapping and sampling at its Forrestania Project in Western Australia.
The project is described by the company as housing ‘numerous’ under-explored and highly prospective lithium targets, and sits directly adjacent to the major Wesfarmers / SQM owned Mt Holland Lithium Mine which houses proven and probable ore reserves of 94.2Mt @ 1.5% Li2O.
Data from the program remains under analysis, with ‘encouraging’ initial observations from the project’s Gem Mining Lease, including identification of coarse-grained, fractionated pegmatites analogous to those found in Mt Holland’s Earl Grey deposit. Assays from rock chip samples remain pending, with updates expected in four to six weeks from the date of the announcement.

In addition to reviewing historical data from the project, the company is pursuing a number of innovative techniques to identify drill-ready targets including the use of ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) imagery and DGPR (Deep Ground Penetrating Radar).
Forrestania reports that it has already completed a DGPR geophysical survey across the M77/549 license, in a bid to identify drill targets from potential pegmatite horizons that may be related to a historical intercept of 33m @ 3.2% LiO2. Results from the survey are expected within weeks.
