Former Barrick Mining Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) Exploration Manager Jozef Story has joined Victoria-focused gold explorer Aureka (ASX:AKA) to lead the company’s geology team.
Story spent the past four years managing, developing, and exploring Barrick’s exploration portfolio, spanning over 5,000km2 throughout Tanzania.
Prior to his work with Barrick, Story spent over 12 years at Victorian gold projects as an exploration geologist including at the Fosterville Gold Mine, currently operated by Agnico Eagle (NYSE:AEM). He was also project geologist for formerly listed Castlemaine Goldfields exploring across numerous Victorian gold regions at Castlemaine, Chewton, Raywood, and Central Victorian gold fields.
Aureka Managing Director James Gurry says with a career focused mainly on orogenic and narrow vein hosted gold deposits, Story’s experience will be highly valuable as Aureka continues to drill out its numerous targets in the gold fields of Bendigo, Stawell, and St Arnaud.
“Jozef’s time with Barrick and other projects globally, along with his experience with successful Victorian projects, ensures we have the very best opportunity for Aureka’s success and growth,” Gurry says.

Current Exploration Manager, Peter de Vries will continue to oversee the Irvine and St Arnaud drilling programs, while Story takes charge of exploration strategy. Vries firm will continue to consult the company when needed.

Aureka is an exploration company that owns a portfolio of gold projects across Victoria.
In early April, Aureka started drilling at the St Arnaud Project. The program was outlined to the market following the recapitalisation in late 2024 as part of the 7,000m continuous program. A diamond drilling program consisting of four holes for a total of 1,400m is proposed along strike and adjacent to the old Comstock Open Pit within the St Arnaud regional park. The program is expected to take two to three months.
