Australian space explorer Fleet Space Technologies has appointed former Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) head of exploration technical knowledge Kendall Cole-Rae to its Experts-in-Residence (XIR) program.
At Rio Tinto, Cole-Rae focused on enhancing discovery performance and building sustainable competitive advantages with innovative solutions.
Cole-Rae brings decades of resource development and management experience, and as a result, will expand Fleet Space’s in-house advisory expertise.
“We need to disrupt and transform this industry,” Cole-Rae says.
“I believe that Fleet Space understands this opportunity, possesses the know-how to capitalise on it, and will lead the industry through this change.”
CEO Flavia Tata Nardini says Cole-Rae’s leadership in global resource development and management perfectly aligns with the company’s mission.
“To empower the world’s largest mining companies with tools that deliver faster insights, richer orebody knowledge, and more sustainable exploration outcomes,” Nardini says.
Fleet Space says this appointment comes as the company expedites its global growth following a US$100 million ($153.28 million) Series D funding round led by Canada’s Teachers’ Venture Growth – a late-stage venture arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
Now valued at more than US$525 million, Fleet Space is pushing the boundaries of exploration by building next-generation geophysical survey methods, scaling ExoSphere worldwide to support mineral supply chain resilience and agility, while also embedding advisory expertise into core operations.
