Firetail Resources (ASX:FTL) is gearing up to begin a drilling program at the York Harbour Copper-Zinc-Silver Project in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, in the coming weeks.
The $15.73 million market capitalised company has begun siteworks — including reconditioning access tracks and establishing drill positions — in preparation for drilling to be carried out.
CEO Glenn Poole says as drilling is expected to begin shortly, with geophysics to follow, the coming months will be an “exciting time” for the company.
“The opportunities we are seeing at York Harbour continue to impress as we gain further understanding of the mineralised system,” Poole says.
“The additional permitting we have put in place will help support a more extensive drilling campaign planned to commence shortly. The welcome and positive on-ground support we have received from the local community and stakeholders has been overwhelming.”
The permitting of a much wider area gives the company an expanded footprint for a more extensive drilling program this year. Drilling will be conducted across multiple opportunities to extend the known mineralised zones, previously uncovered at York Harbour along strike and at depth.
An extensive review of the drilling programs was completed by the previous owners, which resulted in identifying opportunities for further growth, with multiple semi-massive, stringer, and disseminated zones.

The company says these zones are adjacent to high-grade ore zones overlooked in previous sampling programs.
Firetail Resources notes re-processing of at least eight holes, containing a minimum of 250m of unsampled drill core, has been identified for analysis, with high potential to provide valuable information on the extents and controls of the York Harbour mineralised system.
Poole adds that the information from the current re-logging project uncovered numerous resampling opportunities, as the company begins to understand the potential of York Harbour.
“We are sending core previously not analysed, in some instances adjacent to high-grade ore zones, to the lab to ensure we have all of the potentially mineralised zones assayed,” Poole says.
“We are seeing historical holes ending in mineralisation, and in some cases, before the interpreted target horizon was intercepted. The re-sampling exercise is assisting with final preparations for the drilling program.
“Further to test, Firetail is undertaking the first property-wide electromagnetic survey which will provide us with a better understanding of the controls on mineralisation and potentially identify further targets across the wider project.”
Firetail Resources is an Australian-based copper-focused explorer with projects in three operating jurisdictions globally including Australia, Canada, and Peru.
