Finex Metals (TSX-V:FINX) has been granted the Kero mineral exploration licence by the Finnish Mining Authority of northern Finland.
The licence is located 15km southeast of Agnico Eagle Mine’s (TSX:AEM) Kittila Gold Mine – which is Europe’s largest primary gold operation.
Historical reports note that gold is associated with sulphide-rich quartz-carbonate veins and mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth. Importantly, diamond drilling is recommended to expand on shallow drilling to evaluate the continuity, geometry, and scale of the gold-bearing zones.
Finex believes that Kero offers exploration potential through reinterpretation of geophysical and structural data, systematic till and bedrock sampling, drill testing, as well as additional targeting.
The company is currently reviewing the extensive historical dataset and plans to outline a 2026 phased exploration program at Kero, including target prioritisation and planning of an initial diamond drill program in H2 2026.
CEO Tero Kosonen says the licence is an “important” step as the company builds a strategic portfolio of royalty-free gold projects in northern Finland.
“Kero adds an additional highly prospective gold system in the Central Lapland greenstone belt, with gold mineralisation confirmed in drilling and channel sampling,” Kosonen says.
“Our priority is reinterpretation, target ranking and a disciplined, phased exploration program to unlock the project’s potential.”
Finex Metals is a gold, nickel, and platinum group metals-focused mineral explorer advancing its portfolio of projects in northern Finland.
