Estrella uncovers pegmatite field at Carr Boyd

Estrella Resources (ASX:ESR) has begun targeted mapping and rock chip sampling programs across a ‘significant’ field of stacked pegmatites within its Carr Boyd Nickel Project in Western Australia.

The company plans to follow this up with a targeted soil sampling program, which will guide further exploration for Estrella.

During field investigations into the eastern side of the Carr Boyd tenements, fractionated pegmatites up to 16m in width were observed at surface within a 16km-square area east of the project’s rocks monzogranite.

The company says an albite dominant with rubidium-muscovite and trace zinnwaldite was identified in the field.

Meanwhile, within the western tenements, Estrella observed additional stacked, fractionated pegmatite systems.

Estrella Resources Managing Director Chris Daws says though still in its early days, this discovery highlights Carr Boyd’s lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) potential and, paired with the discovery at the western tenements, bodes well for the company’s upcoming activities.

“This will be followed by a targeted soil sampling program to guide further exploration. With this further work, we hope to gain a strong understanding of the lithium prospectivity, which may eventually lead to generation of lithium targets for drilling.

Estrella’s lithium work enhances the company’s potential to make a significant discovery while imposing only minor costs, allowing us to simultaneously maintain our primary focus of unlocking further nickel sulphides at Carr Boyd.”

The Carr Boyd project lies north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, covering the Carr Boyd Layered Complex — a 75km-square mafic igneous complex that hosts several nickel and copper sulphide occurrences.

Estrella Resources is a diverse Western Australia-based explorer and developer focused on its nickel projects.

As of 30 September 2023, the company had $108,000 cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its latest quarterly report. Post-quarter end, Estrella raised $1.65 million through a placement.
