Emmerson continues to build scale at Hermitage with further ‘high-grade’ copper-gold assays

Emmerson Resources (ASX:ERM) reports that it has received remaining assay results following a phase two diamond drilling (DD) operation at its Hermitage copper-gold discovery, as part of its 100% owned project in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. 

The results, generated by two diamond drillholes, have delivered further ‘high-grade’ copper, gold, cobalt and bismuth mineralisation and continue to build scale at Hermitage, with key results including:

  • Hole HERCDD006: 52.5m @ 1.03% Cu, 1.36g/t Au and 0.11% bismuth from 131.5m, incl. 4m @ 5.66g/t Au and 0.47% Cu from 141m, and;12m @ 3.39g/t Au and 3.04% Cu from 172m, incl. 3m @ 12.51g/t Au and 2.95% Cu from 181m 
  • Hole HERCDD005: 5m @ 1.06g/t Au, 0.58% Cu and 0.13% bismuth from 75m, and; 6m @ 1.88g/t Au, 0.83% Cu and 0.11% bismuth from 105m, incl. 3m @ 3.67g/t Au, 1.38% Cu and 0.21% bismuth from 105m  

Addressing the results, Emmerson Managing Director, Rob Bills said: “Now we have all the assay results of the phase two drilling, Hermitage is on scale with many of the major historical discoveries in the Tennant Creek Mineral Field.

The grades of copper, gold, cobalt and bismuth are outstanding, as evidenced by angled scissor drill hole HERCDD010, successfully aimed at testing beneath the fault and discovery drill hole HERCDD003 – ranked on a global basis as one of the best intersections for 2021.

Encouragingly, this phase two drilling indicates that the gold, copper and bismuth grades increase with depth and remain open in all directions. 

The addition of cobalt and bismuth to the copper and gold at Hermitage adds to the inventory of future facing metals relevant to the battery, superconductor, magnet, and 3D printing, suite of metals.” 

The company also notes that mineralisation remains open to the east, west and down plunge, with ultra-high grades being reflected in drillholes from the previously reported brecciated central ironstones, which are reported to plunge steeply to the north.

However, while the dimensions have yet to be fully ascertained as new zones of ironstone continue to be intersected, the horizontal footprint is on scale with many of the major Tennant Creek orebodies, which indicates that grades of copper, gold and bismuth are increasing with depth. 

The Tennant Creek Project is located about 500km north of Alice Springs in Northern Territory’s Tennant Creek Mineral Field and comprises a ground holding of 1,706km-square, with Emmerson owning 100% of all associated tenements. The project consolidates ~95% of the Tennant Creek Mineral Fields prospective Warramunga formation rocks and is prospective for gold, copper, cobalt and bismuth mineralisation. 

With the remaining assays from the recent phase two DD operation now returned, Emmerson announces that it will move forward with down hole geophysics and compilation of all data to target the ‘ultra-high-grade’, down plunge extent of the central ironstone at Hermitage.
