DY6 Metals (ASX:DY6) is conducting a reconnaissance sampling program to follow up on historical platinum group element (PGE) targets at the Ngala Hill Project in southern Malawi.
The exploration program, which will begin early this quarter, aims to confirm and potentially expand the area of interest at Ngala Hill.
At Ngala Hill, three key target zones of palladium rich (palladium+platinum+gold+copper) mineralisation were identified from historical trenching and limited drill testing.
Palladium’s increasing use in semiconductors has contributed to a price increase of over 6% to US$1,034.94 per ounce in the past month.
China is considering standardising artificial intelligence by 2026, establishing about 50 sets of rules, which has buoyed the price.
DY6 has begun community engagement with local members at the project site, with the aim of facilitating awareness of the exploration program planned. The first stage of community consultation allows logistics to be planned and costed with more certainty.
DY6 says it is not aware of any potential difficulties, but lack of general community knowledge of exploration processes and requirements needs to be addressed.
CEO Lloyd Kaiser says the team has built strong relationships with local communities across its assets.
“This early engagement at Ngala Hil is setting the foundation between the company and the community as we prepare to mobilise the geo team and embark on our first exploration campaign at Ngala,” he says.
The Ngala Hill Project covers 16.5km2 and mineralisation is interpreted as a magmatic intrusion with hydrothermal overprint.
