Duratec secures multi-million-dollar Rio Tinto project

Duratec (ASX:DUR) has been awarded a $44 million structural integrity project at mining giant Rio Tinto’s (ASX:RIO) Tom Price mine site in Western Australia

Rio Tinto, which has a market capitalisation of $44.49 billion, has several mine sites in the Pilbara region, including Tom Price which is part of its iron ore operations.

The project, which has been awarded under an existing master services agreement, involves the installation of strengthening steelwork in the Tom Price high grade screen house at the ore handling facility.

Duratec, which has a market capitalisation of $369.57 million, says the work is scheduled to begin in January 2025 and expects it will be completed in late 2026.

Managing Director Chris Oates says the project represents another milestone in the company’s business strategy.

“Duratec has a long history in delivering large asset remediation projects for the mining and industrial sector,” Oates says.

“We have an experienced and well-prepared team and look forward to delivering this project to the highest quality.”

Duratec is an Australian contractor that provides assessment, protection, remediation, and refurbishment services for a range of assets and infrastructure.

The company has 20 branches across Australia and delivers services to the defence, commercial, infrastructure, mining, and industrial sectors, as well as the power and energy sectors.
