Culpeo pinpoints ‘high priority’ copper targets following ground magnetic survey at Lana Corina

Culpeo Minerals (ASX: CPO) reports that it has identified multiple new anomalous, geophysical priority targets following a detailed ground magnetic survey over an 800m x 1,000m area at its Lana Corina Project in Chile.

The results indicate that these newly-discovered priority targets are coincident with elevated copper values, and share geophysical similarities when compared to the Lana-Corina-Laura prospect, which recently returned grades including:

  • 257m @ 0.95% Cu, 81ppm Mo from 170m, and
  • 104m @ 0.74% Cu, 73ppm Mo from 155m

Addressing the results, Culpeo Minerals Managing Director Max Tuesley said: “Our first program of ground-based geophysics has delivered very encouraging results, with the survey identifying 13 new targets that are analogous to the Lana-Corina-Laura prospect which has produced significant copper drill intersections in recent programs.

Our first program of ground-based geophysics has delivered very encouraging results”

The targets are located within clear structural trends and have associated elevated surface geochemical signatures, making them compelling targets for drill testing.”

The company also notes that these results have been integrated with historical surface geochemical data, and clearly demonstrate a relationship between these newly identified targets and areas of anomalous copper mineralisation at surface.

Interestingly, the ground magnetic survey results, combined with a measure of a magnetic susceptibility along the existing drill core of the Lana-Corina-Laura prospect, demonstrate that mineralisation is situated within areas of low magnetic response.

The Lana-Corina Project is located within the Coquimbo region of Chile and is host to multiple outcropping copper-bearing breccia pipes associated with a well-mineralised porphyry intrusive.

The project is situated within a northeast-southwest oriented structural zone that comprises over 1km of strike up to 400m in width, with sheeted vein style mineralisation extending at depth.

With the ground magnetic survey now complete, Culpeo reports that it will move forward with drilling campaigns to test the newly-identified high-priority targets.
