Culpeo Minerals (ASX: CPO) has reported a ‘significant’ 257m @ 0.95% Cu + 81ppm Mo intercept from the second hole of an ongoing diamond drilling program at its Lana Corina Project in Chile.
The company notes that the result supports the company’s geological model and highlights exploration potential at the project by extending copper mineralisation to a depth of 450m, where it remains open.
Previously-reported intercepts from the program include 104m @ 0.74% Cu + 73ppm Mo from hole CMLCD001.
Speaking on the result, Culpeo Minerals Managing Director Max Tuesley said: “The broad zone of high copper and molybdenum grades from the near surface in CMLCD002 is the widest recorded mineralised intercept reported from Lana Corina to date and has exceeded the Company’s expectations.

This result, combined with the previous intercept reported from CMLCD001 (104m @ 0.74% Cu & 73ppm Mo) continues to support the geological model that Lana Corina has considerable size and grade. These are exciting times for Culpeo as we await further assay results and continue to extend the mineralisation along strike and at depth.”
The mineralisation found in CMLCD002 is associated with a ‘considerable’ wide zone of breccia at the top of the drill hole, as well as disseminated mineralisation which is present deeper in the hole.
In addition, Culpeo reports that it has completed a ground-based magnetic survey in order to identify additional breccia pipe targets for drill testing. The survey gathered geophysical data over a 3.8km² area, over 150 line km with 25m line spacing.

The recently-acquired Lana Corina Copper Project is located in Chile’s Coquimbo region and is associated with a northeast-southwest structural zone, containing over 1,000m of strike up to 400m in width.
High-grade copper mineralisation at the project is associated with three known copper-bearing breccia pipes, which extend to a vertical depth of over 200m as part of a large copper-bearing porphyry system.
