Critical Resources (ASX:CRR) is looking to follow up on several magnetic anomalies interpreted to be extensions of pegmatites or additional pegmatite discoveries at its Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada.
EarthEx Geophysical Solutions conducted a high-resolution unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-borne magnetic survey across the Northern prospects within Mavis Lake. An 8km-long prospective trend was covered by a 798-line survey.
Critical Resources, which has a market capitalisation of $23.11 million, says the anomalies — containing elevated lithium, caesium, and tantalum — are associated with other geochemical anomalies identified from parallel exploration work streams.
“The correlation of the aero-mag survey data with the geophysical ‘fingerprints’ of the known spodumene-bearing Gullwing and Tot pegmatites — as well as overlaying anomalous geochemical trends — has provided excellent targets for immediate follow-up field work,” Managing Director Alex Cheeseman says.
Follow-up work is now being planned to build upon the survey, geochemical, and soil results. Critical Resources aims to uncover potential new spodumene-bearing pegmatite discoveries.
Future prospecting efforts will include applying high-resolution magnetic data collected from the UAV survey and will focus on delineating and exploring areas with magnetic lows indicating favourable lithological structures linked to pegmatite emplacement.
Critical Resources will also integrate soil sample results that demonstrate elevated concentrations of lithium and other related elements identified through mobile metal ion (MMI) analysis, which will guide prospecting activities towards areas with mineralisation potential.
The Mavis Lake project lies 14km east-northeast of Dryden in Northwestern Ontario and covers 22,984 hectares.
