Critical Resources finds step-out success at Mavis Lake with ‘thick’ spodumene hits

Critical Resources (ASX: CRR) has reported ‘thick’ visual lithium spodumene mineralisation following a recent drilling program at its 100%-owned Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada.

The mineralisation was reported in four step-out drill holes which form part of the project’s inaugural ~5,000m drill program, and include the highest-grade results to date with up to 40% visual spodumene across 3.6m in pegmatite 6.

Importantly, the drill work has also confirmed that lithium mineralisation is continuous along strike and at depth, with eight of the nine newly-drilled holes intercepting visual spodumene-bearing pegmatites

Speaking on the results, Critical Resources Managing Director Alex Biggs said: “The 40% visual spodumene mineralisation within pegmatite 6 is the highest representation of observed lithium mineralisation to date. We are noticing that pegmatite widths and spodumene mineralisation appear to both increase at depth within pegmatite 6. The down dip and along strike extension of pegmatite 6 will continue to be targeted during this drill program.

The success we have experienced to date at Mavis Lake continues to demonstrate the quality of the asset, and we are looking forward to further successes as the drill program advances. The Company remains committed to its goal of working towards defining a JORC compliant Resource at Mavis Lake which will be both transformational for the Company and the project and will position Critical at the forefront of the lithium industry in Ontario.”

The company notes that Hole 7 demonstrates up-dip continuity of mineralisation that has been observed in hole 5, while an intersection in hole 9 also indicates ‘significant’ lithium-metasomatism within the host rock.

The Mavis Lake Project is located approximately 19km east of the township of Dryden, Ontario, within an established lithium province that hosts multiple projects and prospects including Root Lake and Separation Rapids.

Drill programs conducted at the project between 2017-2018 defined ‘strong’ mineralisation and grades reporting less than 200m from surface, with deeper potential yet to be tested.

Critical Resources reports that that current drill program is approximately 20% complete, and that it remains committed to defining a JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate at Mavis Lake.
