Copper Lake identifies gold-bearing zones at Marshall Lake

Copper Lake Resources (TSX-V:CPL) has completed a preliminary assessment of the gold potential at its Marshall Lake property in northwestern Ontario, defining three new gold-bearing zones for follow-up exploration.

The property is known for hosting copper-zinc-silver volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) mineralisation.

The three zones — Adnarod, Lin and Billiton-2 — show strong potential for precious and base metal mineralisation across east–west trending structures that have seen little to no historical drilling, according to Copper Lake.

At the Adnarod Zone, located about 400m north of the historic Billiton deposit, limited historic drilling returned high-grade intercepts including 14.54 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 3.81m, and 1.64g/t gold with 189g/t silver, 1.99% copper and 7.67% zinc over 2.53m. The zone extends roughly 300m and remains open along strike and at depth.

The Lin Zone, a 1.5-kilometre-long structural corridor between the Teck Hill Zone and Billiton deposit, has never been drill-tested. Historical grab samples returned up to 15.35 g/t gold, 408g/t silver and 18% copper, while Copper Lake’s 2016 sampling recorded assays of 2.03g/t gold, 35g/t silver, 0.26% copper and 5.10% zinc over 0.35m.

The Billiton-2 Zone, located about 200m north of the main deposit, has been traced for more than 300 metres and hosts folded and sheared volcanic rocks containing sulphide-rich quartz veining. Channel sampling indicates potential for gold mineralisation along fold hinges and sulphide zones.

Copper Lake said the results confirm at least three gold- and silver-prospective zones warranting further work, including a ground large-loop electromagnetic (LLEM) survey and targeted diamond drilling.

The Marshall Lake project hosts more than 200 known mineral occurrences and remains the company’s flagship asset in Ontario, alongside its Norton Lake nickel-copper-cobalt-PGM property in the Ring of Fire district.
