Connected Minerals (ASX:CML) has begun a maiden exploration program across its Western Australian portfolio of projects in the Pilbara region.
The program aims to validate historical results, as well as complete geological mapping and assess each tenement for base metal mineralisation potential.
Connected Minerals says the program is initially focusing on the Civilisation Bore and Mt Genoa projects, and will then look at exploring the Pallingup Project area.
CEO Warrick Clent says the company is stoked to be on the ground across its Australian portfolio.
“Commencing with mapping and progressing rock chip sampling at both Civilisation Bore and Mt Genoa, our aim is to validate the historic Newmont Corp (ASX:NEM)/ Newcrest Mining results from the 1980s and determine follow-up exploration programs that will be carried out in 20205,” Clent says.
At Civilisation Bore, located 70km south of Paraburdoo in Western Australia, historical work has defined an extensive corridor of hydrothermal chlorite alteration, silicification, as well as stock work quartz veining extending from the Pingandy Well.
The alteration extends between 5 and 8km wide and is anomalous for copper, arsenic, antimony, and tin.
In 1993, Newcrest Mining conducted a rock chip sampling program which returned assays up to 33.5% copper. Since then, there has been limited follow-up work around the prospect area.
At Mt Genoa, located 150km south-southwest of Paraburdoo, is considered prospective for lead, copper, gold, and silver.
Between 2004 and 2005, Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR) conducted surface sampling, with eight rock chip samples collected and analysed. The results confirmed anomalous copper and lead values, up to 1,318 parts per million (ppm) and 5,691ppm respectively.
Clent adds that the Australian exploration program will run concurrently with its uranium exploration program in Namibia, which is already underway.
“2025 is shaping up as a pivotal year for Connected, with significant newsflow expected across our entire portfolio,” the CEO says.
