Clean Air Metals (TSX-V:AIR) is seeking to expand the mineral resource estimate within the Escape Lake Intrusion, which is part of its Thunder Bay North Critical Minerals Project in Canada.
The Escape intrusion is a key contributor to the Thunder Bay project, representing 40% of the total metal content of the estimated 14 million tonnes containing 2.4 million equivalent ounces of platinum group elements, 56,800 tonnes of copper, and 33,800 tonnes of nickel.
Ahead of potentially expanding Escape’s resource, the Canadian explorer will conduct a follow-up program next summer at Thunder Bay, which will involve a detailed deep electromagnetic survey across the southern extension of the Escape deposit.
This will aim to map the larger sulphide traps within the mineralised conduit. The survey results will help guide the next phase of drilling, which focuses on uncovering “high-grade” zones and expanding Escape’s MRE.
This news comes after Clean Air received results from an ambient noise tomography survey conducted over Escape, which confirmed a potential 1km down-plunge extension of the deposit.
Clean Air says the survey highlights possible high-grade target areas that will be evaluated with additional geophysics in 2025 in anticipation of a future drilling program.
Vice President of Exploration Lionnel Djon says the survey has proven to be an “invaluable” tool for exploring conduits at the project.
“By measuring velocity changes between rock formations, we can more accurately image the potential location of conduits hosting platinum group elements sulphide mineralisation,” Djon says.
“These results will enable us to target our drilling with significantly greater precision, which is incredibly promising for the project’s future.”
The survey was designed to define the untested southern extension of the Escape intrusion, which seems to extend for more than 2km along strike.
