Chesser delivers ‘high grade’ gold mineralisation from drilling and rock chip sampling at Diamba Sud, Senegal

Chesser Resources (ASX: CHZ) has reported ‘significant’ gold grades following rock-chip sampling and drilling operations at the Karakara, Area A North and Kassassoko deposits within its Diamba Sud Gold Project in Senegal.

The drilling results at Karakara, generated from four diamond holes and 19 RC holes, have returned multiple ‘high-grade’ intercepts, and have successfully confirmed the ‘high-grade’ structures with drilling along the Northern Arc structure returning narrow mineralised intervals.

Significant intercepts beneath historical artisanal working include:

  • Hole DSDD074:
    • 2.5m @ 12.2g/t Au from 32.6m
    • 26.3m @ 3.5g/t Au from 40.3m

Northern Drill traverses include:

  • Hole DSDD073:
    • 10m @ 1.7g/t Au from 8m
    • 12m @ 3.1g/t Au from 23m
    • 3m @ 7.5g/t Au from 112m
    • 2m @ 33.9g/t Au from 173m
  • Hole DSR362:
    • 2m @ 4.5g/t Au from 68m
    • 4m @ 1.7g/t Au from 99m
    • 15m @ 3.8g/t Au from 113m

Results from 500m north of Area A, which was comprised of nine RC holes for 1,150m, include:

  • Hole DSR367: 2m @ 12.2g/t Au from 52m
  • Hole DSR374: 9m @ 1.9g/t Au from 4m, incl. 5m @ 0.9g/t Au from 66m, and 8m @ 1.0g/t Au from 76m
  • Hole DSR375: 2m @ 2.5g/t Au from 41m

The company also notes that 15 rock-chip samples taken from within the Kassassoko artisanal pit have returned ‘very significant’ gold results that average 3.8g/t Au and deliver a maximum result of 10.3g/t Au.

In addition, these rock-sampling results demonstrate that mineralisation is hosted within an east-west sheared and stock worked granite with associate pyrite alteration that has been mined over a length of 80m.

Speaking on the results, Chesser Resources Managing Director & CEO, Andrew Grove said: “The Kassassoko results are very significant in the context of the consistent high grades and extensive artisanal excavations, as seen below. Mineralisation is also hosted in granite, something we have not seen in the area previously and many open the possibility to large scale mineralisation.

Local miners are active at the rock site however their numbers have been diminishing as excavations encounter fresh rock. We will look at drilling the prospect as soon as possible. Results at Karakara continue to define the high-grade structure which remains open to the southeast, the strike of which will cover by drilling prior to the end of this drill season.

Drilling is progressing well over numerous prospects within the Diamba Sud tenement, and we look forward to receiving the results and highlighting the significant prospectivity of the area.”

The Diamba Sud Project is located within the ‘highly prospective’ Senegal Mali Shear Zone orogenic belt in Senegal, West Africa, and covers a total land area of 53.2km² with Chesser owning 100% of all associated tenements.

The project currently boasts a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate containing 781koz @ 1.6g/t Au including ~500koz @ 3.0g/t Au, with the company believing that the project hosts significant resource growth potential along strike and at depth.

With the Phase 8 drill program expected to be complete by mid July, Chesser reports that it will move forward with Mineral Resource estimates for the Karakara deposit and the broader Project area, with initial drill testing being planned for Kassassoko in the near future.
