Charger Metals launches Lake Johnston drilling

Charger Metals (ASX:CHR) has begun a diamond drilling program at the Mt Day prospect within the Lake Johnston Lithium Project in Western Australia.

The Mt Day target area is a 5.5km by 1.5km pegmatite field defined by a strong lithium-in-soils anomaly. Charger currently interprets that Mt Day comprises large LCT pegmatites that gently-dip towards the east, with a potential fractionation trend down-dip towards the east.

The program will target two of the easternmost outcropping lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites to test this interpretation where access is permitted, alongside testing for repeating pegmatites at depth.

Charger notes the program is expected to take several weeks.

“This is a large target area with potential for significant scale and grade, and we are eager to see what the initial drill testing by this maiden program will show us,” Managing Director Aidan Platel says.

This news comes after Charger received results from a reverse circulation drilling program which confirmed “high-grade” lithium mineralisation hosted by LCT pegmatites at Medcalf West.

Charger has defined lithium mineralisation within pegmatites in a near-surface zone up to 35m thick that extends for at least 650m, in very close proximity to the lithium defined at the main Medcalf prospect.

The Lake Johnston Lithium Project, located 450km east of Perth, comprises several prospects that are considered prospective for lithium and tantalum minerals.

Charger Metals is a battery minerals explorer with assets in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
