Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) has received approval to begin drilling for niobium and rare earths at its Carb Lake Project in Ontario, Canada.
The junior explorer anticipates drilling will begin between late July and early August across the 3km in diameter mineralised carbonatite.
Carb Lake was last tested in the 1960s. Just four holes were drilled returning a peak niobium grade of 7.1%.
Cazaly says recent portable x-ray fluorescence analysis of historic core confirms anomalous rare earths, with peak results of 0.42% praseodymium and 1.49% neodymium.
Managing Director Tara French says the anomalous historical results reported previously by Cazaly confirm the Carb Lake complex is mineralised.
“New drilling will enhance our understanding of the grade distribution and metallurgy of niobium and REE mineralisation,” she says.
The proposed drilling program is designed to test the carbonatite along a north to south transect to provide geochemical and geological data to add to the magnetic model. The information will be used to guide subsequent phases of targeted drilling.
The Carb Lake Project comprises 93 mineral claims in the Red Lake District of Ontario.
