Castillo Copper Ltd (ASX: CCZ) has announced ‘high-grade’ platinum, gold and cobalt results following forensic geology work at the Iron Blow and The Sisters prospects within its BHA Project.
The results from the project’s East Zone come after Castillo re-examined the two previously-explored prospects, with significant results at The Sisters prospect including:
- Hole BH1: 1.71m @ 183 ppm Cu and 185ppm Co from 20.54m; plus 1.83m @ 19,800 ppm Cu and 820ppm Co from 124.66m
- Hole BH2: 1.49m @ 210ppm Cu and 320ppm Co from 138.37m
The company notes that surface sampling at Iron Blow has also returned ‘high-grade’ platinum and gold assays of up to 6.1g/t Au and 3.7g/t Pt, in a result that it says provides further potential for Broken-Hill-type and IOCG-type mineralisation. Other significant grades include:
- Sample #G3: 3.7g/t Pt
- Sample #G1: 2.2g/t Pt and 6.1g/t Au
- Sample #MS1: 0.4g/t Pt
- Sample #MS2: 2.9g/t Pt
- Sample #21: 2.8g/t Au
- Sample #25: 1.45g/t Pt
- Sample #53: 0.05g/t Pt
Addressing the results, Castillo Copper CEO Dr Dennis Jensen said: “Discovering the potential for platinoid mineralisation with the BHA project is excellent news, as it provides another avenue to create shareholder value.

Further, with global copper and cobalt prices near multi-year highs and $6.7m cash on hand, CCZ has strong foundations to further capitalise on this favourable dynamic with mineral resource estimates already completed for the Big One Deposit and the Cangai Copper Mine, and one is currently underway at the BHA project.”
The BHA Project is located within a 20km radius of Broken Hill’s ‘world-class’ silver-zinc-lead deposit and consists of four tenements covering a total area of 801.3km².
With surface sampling and diamond drilling both completed, Castillo is preparing to model a JORC-compliant MRE for the project’s East Zone while it awaits completion of further coding work.
