Carawine Resources maps out strike extensions at Tropicana North Gold Project, WA

Perth-based explorer Carawine Resources (ASX:CWX) has identified strike extensions through aircore drilling at the Tropicana North Gold Project in Western Australia.

The company says results from a 104-hole aircore (AC) drilling program completed in March 2023 have extended the strike length of the gold mineralisation in the area and provided targets for additional follow-up drilling at the Blue Bell South and Python tenements.

Now that AC drilling is complete, Carawine says it has planned follow-up drilling at the Hercules deposit and Big Freeze prospect, as well as AC drilling along the 12km anomalous Hercules gold trend on the Neale tenement in the Thunderstruck joint venture (JV). The company will also complete ground gravity surveys on the Chicago and Spackman tenements.

Carawine anticipates these activities will commence in the second half of 2023, subject to heritage approvals.

Commenting on the results of the drilling program, Carawine Resources Managing Director David Boyd says: “These assay results are encouraging in that we have identified strike extensions to gold mineralisation of over 500m and 1.2km at the Tallows and Area 1 prospects, respectively.

“We will look to target these trends with deeper and closer-spaced drilling in due course, with follow-up drilling to be prioritised alongside other planned programs across our Tropicana North Gold Project”

We will look to target these trends with deeper and closer-spaced drilling in due course, with follow-up drilling to be prioritised alongside other planned programs across our Tropicana North Gold Project.

Our next drilling program is expected to commence mid-July 2023 at the Big Bang tenement in the Fraser Range, targeting 3 bedrock conductors for potential nickel-sulphide mineralisation, before our focus moves back to Tropicana North with drilling planned for Hercules, Big Freeze and additional gold targets.”

On the Blue Bell South tenement, Carawine completed 61 AC holes for 3,738m on 4 lines across the Tallow North gold trend. Drillhole BBSAC009 achieved the best result here of 1m @ 0.43g/t Au from 64m. Additionally, this hole is associated with quartz veins at the base of residual saprolite above biotite-altered granite.

The intercept was 300m north of historical drillhole BAC0310, which returned 1m @ 0.72g/t Au from 54m, and together, these 2 intervals define a north-northeast-oriented trend that extends for more than 600m. The company says additional closer-spaced and deeper drilling is required to determine the potential of this trend.

At Python Area 1, Carawine reports it completed a line of 7 AC holes for 341m targeting extensions to the north of historic gold anomalism. Hole PYAC037 returned the best result here of 4m @ 0.21g/t Au from 32m within a weathered schist overlying quartz-biotite-garnet gneiss.

The company reports the results of PYAC037, combined with historical AC drilling, have delineated a potential second-order mineralised structure with a strike of more than 1.5km that requires additional closer-spaced and deeper drilling to determine the extent of the mineralised system.

AC drilling was also carried out across the Liberty trend and Python Area 2, though this drilling did not return ‘significant’ results and failed to define a coherent trend of mineralisation above 0.1g/t Au.

Carawine Resources is an ASX-listed gold, copper, and base metals explorer based in Perth. The company’s arsenal includes the Tropicana North, Fraser Range, Paterson, and Oakover projects in Western Australia. Additionally, the company also holds the Jamieson Gold-Copper and Zinc-Gold-Silver Project in northeast Victoria.

Tropicana North comprises 13 granted exploration licences and 3 exploration licence applications that cover 2,400km-square of land in the Tropicana and Yamarna regions of Western Australia. Of these licences, 2 are subject to a JV between Carawine and private company Thunderstruck Investments, with the companies holding a 90% and 10% interest in the tenements, respectively.
