Brookside Energy (ASX:BRK) has completed drilling and casing the Sabres well and spudded the Whalers well at its Suttles pad in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin, US.
The Sabres 2-1-1S-3W SXH1 well reached its planned total measured depth of about 4,328m after Brookside drilled the lateral section within the targeted bench of the Sycamore Formation.
The company installed 140mm production casing to the bottom of the well before cementing and pressure testing it. Brookside says the test confirmed the casing’s integrity, completing the drilling and casing phase at Sabres.
Kenai Rig 18 has since moved across the Suttles pad to the Whalers 2-1-1S-3W WXH2 well, which is drilling through the surface-hole section towards the Woodford Formation target.
Once Whalers has been drilled and cased, Brookside says it plans to conduct simultaneous fracture-stimulation operations at both wells.
CEO David Prentice says completing the work at Sabres reduces the remaining drilling risk at the pad.
“Sabres is now drilled and cased to its planned depth, with production casing successfully run to bottom, cemented, and tested. That significantly de-risks the drilling phase,” Prentice says.
“The team executed safely and efficiently, then moved directly to Whalers, which is now drilling ahead. That is how this pad was designed to run: tight cycle times, minimal downtime, and disciplined execution.”
Brookside holds an approximate 70% working interest in both wells, which form part of the Suttles pad development program announced in July.
The company operates in the SWISH area of interest within the Anadarko Basin and expects to provide further updates as the wells progress towards fracture stimulation and production.
