Bravo Mining (TSX-V:BRVO) has secured formal authorisation to establish its industrial project within Brazil’s Barcarena export processing zone (Barcarena ZPE).
Brazil’s National Council for Export Processing Zones (CZPE) approved the authorization on 25 August, with the resolution published through Resolution CZPE/MDIC No. 128 on 1 September.
The approval allows subsidiary Bravo Metals to establish itself in the Barcarena ZPE to manufacture nickel-platinum group metals (PGM) mattes and alloys, including platinum, palladium, rhodium, nickel, copper, and cobalt.
According to Bravo, the resolution secures the Barcarena ZPE regime for 20 years. Key financial benefits include the suspension of federal taxes on imported equipment and inputs, including import tax (II), value-added excise tax (IPI), and social contribution taxes (PIS/PASEP and COFINS), alongside tax suspensions on domestic purchases and import-export licensing exemptions.
Chairman and CEO Luis Azevedo says the authorisation represents another important step in advancing Bravo’s potential downstream processing strategy in Pará state.
“This is a new and key step in the process following the approval of the Barcarena ZPE and Bravo Metals’ anchor industrial project last November, and the formal creation of the ZPE by presidential decree in January,” Azevedo says.
The approval follows CZPE’s initial endorsement of the project in November 2025 and Presidential Decree No. 12,823, which formally created the ZPE in January.
Azevedo adds the milestone is ‘particularly timely’ as the company advances Luanga’s Prefeasibility Study (PFS) towards completion, targeted for the end of Q3 2026.
“The PFS is evaluating the potential for vertical integration and downstream processing within Brazil, and today’s authorisation further strengthens the framework within which that opportunity is being assessed.”
Located near the Port of Vila do Conde, the ZPE offers direct access to international markets and provides synergies for sulphuric acid production — an input for phosphate fertiliser — evaluated as a byproduct in Bravo’s preliminary economic assessment.
Bravo’s Luanga Project remains the only minerals and metals project approved as an anchor industrial project within a Brazilian ZPE.
Bravo Mining is a Canada- and Brazil-based mineral explorer and developer focused on advancing its flagship Luanga PGM-Gold-Nickel Project in Brazil’s Carajás mineral province.
