Black Canyon Wandanya Project

Black Canyon pivots management to direct Wandanya exploration

Black Canyon (ASX:BCA) is restructuring its management team ahead of further development to the Wandanya Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, targeting a recent iron and manganese discovery at the project.

The company has appointed mining engineer and geologist Clinton Moxham to further boost capability within the business, noting Mr Moxham’s more than two-decade experience in the resources sector.

Mr Moxham has led greenfield startups, operational restarts, and contract mining projects that host an output ranging from 1 million tonnes to 10 million tonnes per year.

Managing Director Brendan Cummins says the employment of Moxham comes at a time when Black Canyon is well funded to further exploration and development at Wandanya.

“I am delighted to welcome Clinton to the team, his operational experience across both iron and manganese, along with a background in developing greenfield mine sites will be a valuable addition,” Cummins says.

“Clinton’s appointment strengthens our capabilities to ensure we are well positioned to unlock the full potential of the Wandanya Project.”

Black Canyon has also updated its executive services agreement with its Managing Director, to better align the company’s increased activities with Cummins’ role.

The company has entered into a deed of variation for executive services with Cummins, boosting his base employment from the original four days per week to five.

Chairman Graham Ascough says the company has been able to deliver multiple greenfield discoveries across the Balfour Manganese Field under Cummins leadership since listing in 2021.

“The recent Wandanya discovery has highlighted a unique, high-grade manganese and iron system, further enhancing the company’s portfolio and creating value for shareholders in a region of the Pilbara previously under explored for manganese,” Ascough says.

“The board is pleased to strengthen the management team and looks forward to Brendan’s ongoing leadership as we advance exploration and development activities at Wandanya.”

Black Canyon is a manganese explorer focused on developing its portfolio of projects in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
