Black Canyon confirms Wandanya’s manganese

On the completion of phase three of drilling at the Wandanya Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Black Canyon (ASX:BCA) has identified manganese mineralisation across a 3km strike.

The company conducted a total of 148 reverse circulation drillholes across 3,831m of drilling, with assays expected to return in mid-October through to November.

The program identified manganese mineralisation open to the north and the east, as well as an additional 300m of outcropping manganese that remains untested to the south.

Hematite dominated iron formation has also appeared in the cross lines, similarly mapping a further 3km north, located 600m north of previous drill lines.

Black Canyon intends to commence a diamond core drilling program to obtain samples for metallurgical testwork in the next quarter.

Managing Director Brendan Cummins says the company looks forward to further exploring the north, east, and south targets surrounding the Wandanya discovery after strengthening the relationship between manganese and iron mineralisation.

“Completing our third reverse circulation drill program at Wandanya in less than 12 months has demonstrated the lateral continuity and shallow depths to the manganese and iron mineralisation at Wandanya,” Cummins says.

“The drill programs have consistently confirmed the scale of the mineralisation footprint with drillholes now completed along 3km of strike with cross line widths ranging between 160m to 800m.

“From the drill programs we can confidently identify the footwall and hanging wall sequences within the manganese horizon persisting over hundred of metres across strike and thousands of metres along strike.”

The company is currently awaiting to acquire the south tenement ahead of its plans to continue drill exploration along the mapped 300m.

Black Canyon is an explorer and developer focused on discovering manganese across its portfolio of assets in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
