Black Canyon confirms record manganese grades at Wandanya

Black Canyon (ASX:BCA) has returned some of its highest-ever manganese grades from drilling at the group’s Wandanya Project in Western Australia’s Oakover Basin, with multiple holes recording grades above 35%.

The results come from the first 56 of 148 reverse circulation holes drilled in the company’s phase-three program, confirming thick, shallow and laterally continuous mineralisation across 3 kilometres of strike in the northern area of the project.

Significant intersections include 7m @ 37.7% manganese from surface, 8m @ 37.4%, and 8m @ 35.5%, alongside intervals of up to 10m @ 61.3% iron.

Managing Director Brendan Cummins said the drill results reinforced Wandanya’s potential scale and quality.

“The phase-three results continue to impress with consistent high-grade intervals along 3 kilometres of strike,” he said.

“Both manganese and iron remain open to the north, with cross-width mineralisation ranging between 400 and 500 metres.”

Cummins added the success rate was “very high” noting 55 of the 56 holes intersected ‘high-grade’ manganese or iron.

A diamond-drilling campaign to collect metallurgical samples is scheduled to begin later this quarter.

Earlier testwork on nearby W2 stratabound manganese material showed that ore grading 30% could be upgraded to a 45% concentrate, exceeding the benchmark 44% manganese product.

Assays from the remaining 92 holes are expected through October and early November 2025, with results to further define high-grade manganese and iron zones across Black Canyon’s 100% owned 2,000km² Balfour Manganese Field portfolio.
