Barton Gold kicks off Phase 3 RC drilling at Tarcoola

Barton Gold (ASX: BGD) has commenced Phase 3 drilling at its Tarcoola Gold Project as part of a large-scale 2022 exploration program across its Central Gawler Craton assets.

The 4,700m, 24-hole campaign will be tasked with extending the Perseverance West gold zone to access new mineral resources, along with testing the Ealbara and School major regional targets.

Speaking on the news, Barton Gold Managing Director Alexander Scanlon said: “Last year’s Phase 2 drilling successfully identified a new and potentially high-value opportunity on our open pit at Perseverance, and our numerous geophysical studies have confirmed a long list of exciting regional targets.

our numerous geophysical studies have confirmed a long list of exciting regional targets”

This year our focus at Tarcoola will be twofold: (1) Establishing an initial Mineral Resource accessible via our existing open pit, and (2) new regional discoveries across an historically rich mineral domain.”

During 2020 and 2021, Barton had achieved successful results from Phase 1 and Phase 2 programs, including a 200m depth extension of mineralisation and the discovery of the 350m-long, shallow ‘high grade’ Perseverance West prospect extending from the south-west end of the Perseverance open pit.

Barton notes that Perseverance West is offset and parallel to the Deliverance Target and extends to around 100m depth at the pit wall, and to 125m from surface on its western end. The prospect remains open along strike and at depth.

Importantly, a majority of intersections around the open pit are not yet included in Mineral Resource Estimates.

Work at the un-drilled regional priority Ealbara Prospect, which lies on a major inflection zone of the Lake Labyrinth Shear Zone (LLSZ), is guided by 3D inversion modelling of gravity data, which has delivered multiple prospective structural targets.

Recent drilling on the LLSZ by Indiana Resources (ASX:IDA) has resulted in ‘significant’ gold intercepts at the Minos and Ariadne prospects.

In addition, work at the School Prospect will target prospective structures generated from new gravity data, which correspond with structures identified in detailed aeromagnetic surveys.

“Barton plans to complete more than 20,000 metres drilling in the coming 6 months. We are excited to test several newly validated targets, with a focus on significant growth of Tarcoola’s mineralised footprint.”
