Australian Mines (ASX:AUZ) has appointed key consultants to complete its Flemington Scandium Project Prefeasibility Study (PFS) by mid-Q1 2027.
The company selected specialist firms across PFS management, metallurgy, geotechnical engineering, tailings, water supply, environmental approvals, rehabilitation, and closure for the New South Wales project.
Faultzone, led by Steve Howard, will manage overall PFS integration, including basis of design, study schedule, discipline interfaces, infrastructure, consolidated capex and opex, project economics, implementation schedule, and risk assessment.
Simulus Engineers will undertake metallurgical testwork and process engineering targeting production of greater than 99.9% purity scandium oxide, while GeoHart & Associates will provide mining and infrastructure geotechnical basis and validate the existing tailings storage concept.
Meanwhile, AARC Environmental Solutions and Hydrogeologist.com.au will address the environmental and approvals pathway, stakeholder and heritage considerations, rehabilitation and closure assumptions, and preferred water-supply strategy.
The PFS builds on SRK Consulting’s April 2026 Flemington Scoping Study. Australian Mines adopted a targeted approach focused on validating, refining, and completing existing work, closing remaining PFS information gaps, and integrating specialist inputs.
Managing Director Andrew Nesbitt says the specialist team brings ‘proven expertise’ across every discipline and keeps Flemington on track for PFS completion.
“SRK’s Scoping Study gave Flemington a strong technical foundation. We are now focused on validating the key assumptions, closing the remaining gaps and delivering the PFS efficiently,” Nesbitt says.
The detailed PFS reference case maintains 60 tonnes per annum (tpa) of scandium oxide production, with higher production scenarios of up to 180tpa also assessed to preserve future development optionality.
Australian Mines is an explorer and developer focused on critical and battery-related metals for the green energy transition.
