Australasian Metals (ASX:A8G) has completed bulk sampling at the May Queen South Bauxite Project in central Queensland, reporting composite grades averaging 41.8% aluminium oxide.
The company collected three bulk samples exceeding 50kg each from outcrop locations over a 20m strike length. Each bulk sample comprised 10 individual samples weighing 5–6kg.
Composite samples returned total aluminium oxide grades of 39.5%, 42.0%, and 43.8%, with individual samples grading up to 58.7%.
Australasian notes the results align with previous bulk sampling conducted in 2015.
Managing Director Qingtao Zeng says the results provide further confidence in the grade potential of the deposit.
“The next phase of metallurgical testwork will assess treatment pathways and examine the potential recovery of titanium, gallium, and other elements of interest,” Zeng says.
“May Queen South combines a substantial existing mineral resource with proximity to established transport infrastructure.”
Australasian intends to dispatch the samples for metallurgical testwork to evaluate processing pathways, product specifications, process optimisation, and potential recovery of titanium dioxide, gallium, and rare earth elements.
May Queen South hosts an inferred mineral resource of 54.9 million tonnes at 37.5% total aluminium oxide, 5.2% titanium dioxide, and 7.9% reactive silica. The project is situated less than 55km from rail infrastructure connected to the Port of Bundaberg.
The company is actively reaching out to potential partners and customers across China, Indonesia, and South Korea to evaluate development and commercialisation pathways.
