Austral Resources (ASX:AR1) produced 2,643 tonnes of copper in Q4 2025, which Chairman David Newling describes as a strong close to the year despite adverse weather conditions, with a “bigger and better 2026” on the way for the company.
“Firstly, I want to acknowledge our incredible management and staff who have ensured our people and assets are protected and safeguarded during these extreme weather events,” Newling says.
North West Queensland saw adverse weather conditions to round out the new year, with heavy rainfall causing flooding in the region.
Austral began implementing its pre-wet season management strategy on 1 July to limit the company’s exposure and operation disruption of weather events.
Meanwhile, Austral exceeded production highs in December, producing 910 tonnes – the company’s highest rate of production since the company restructured in 2023.

A reinforced confidence
Austral employees and contractors are all safe from the weather events, with sufficient supplies enabling the company to continue working and living at the Lady Annie and Rocklands operations.
Site supplies are holding for around 22 days of operations at Rocklands, with access to the site expected to be restored shortly.
COO Shane O’Connell says general managers and site-based teams maintained a disciplined approach to ensuring the operations remained safe in adverse weather conditions.
“The operation has endured multiple natural disaster events over the last few years, and in each instance, we have proactively identified and mitigated our exposures through robust systems, planning and on-site capability,” O’Connell says.
“These outcomes are the result of sustained investment in people and risk management, not circumstance.
“The performance delivered through this event reinforces our confidence in the operation and provides a strong platform as we enter 2026, with the sites well positioned to deliver reliable and consistent outcomes despite adverse conditions.”
