Auroch Minerals changes name to Future Battery Minerals to better reflect focus

Auroch Minerals (ASX:AOU) has changed its name to Future Battery Minerals (ASX:FBM) with a new code ‘FBM’ on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), effective immediately.

This name change received shareholder approval at the General Meeting held on 3 February 2023, and the completion of filing with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC). 

Future Battery Minerals reports the rebranding is compatible with the company’s exploration focus for minerals critical to present and future battery needs, specifically lithium (Li) and nickel (Ni). 

The company also reports it holds 2 ‘exciting’ lithium projects, including the recently discovered Kangaroo Hills Lithium Project (KHLP) located in Western Australia.

KHLP represents an ‘exciting’ new spodumene-bearing LCT-pegmatite discovery. 

Future Battery Minerals reports it recently conducted a first pass 3,400m reverse circulation (RC) exploration program, which intercepted pegmatites in 12 out of 14 holes drilled. 

Additionally, assays returned to date highlighted shallow ‘high-grade’ lithium within relatively flat-lying pegmatite units. 

These results include hole KHRC011 with 29m @ 1.36% lithium oxide (Li2O) from 38m; KHRC002 with 7m @ 1% Li2O from 198m; and KHRC001 with 2m @ 1.68% Li2O from 1m.

Future Battery Minerals is currently preparing a follow-up drill program including both RC and diamond drilling (DD) to test the extent of mineralisation at Kangaroo Hills.  The second project is the Nevada Lithium Project located in the US. The company is exploring ‘large-scale’ shallow lithium claystone deposits.

Additionally, the project comprises 5 prospective claim groups, including Fraction, Heller, Lone Mountain, San Antone, and Western Flats. 

In January 2023, the maiden RC drilling program began targeting lithium-bearing claystones within the tertiary Siebert formation, a known host unit at TLC and Tonopah Flats. 

The program consisted of 15 holes for 2,900m testing the San Antonne East and Western Flats prospect.  Out of 15 holes, 10 holes drilled intercepted claystone lithologies, and assay results for the program are pending.  

The company reports it is progressing with its 3 ‘high-grade’ nickel sulphide projects in Western Australia. These include Saints Nickel, Nepean Nickel, and Leinster Nickel Projects.  

Future Battery Minerals, formerly Auroch Minerals, is a critical future minerals exploration company. The company wholly-owns the ‘highly’ prospective ground at the Leinster Nickel Project and South Australian base metal project, Arden, Bonaventura, and 90% of Torrens.
