Aurelius Minerals Inc. (TSXV: AUL) has reported high-grade intersections from Phase 2 of its resource definition drilling program at the 100%-owned Aureus East Project in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Key results have been reported from 3,554m of the current 10,000m campaign:
- Hole AE-21-026: 0.7m @ 149.0 g/t Au, from 329.3m
- Hole AE-21-027: 4.8m @ 5.2 g/t Au, from 338.5m; including
- 0.8m @ 25.5 g/t Au, from 339.4m
- Hole AE-21-024: 1.3m @ 17.72 g/t Au, from 283.0m; including
- 0.6m @ 36.8 g/t Au, from 283.7m
- Hole AE-21-024: 2.4m @ 13.9 g/t Au, from 306.9m; including
- 1.0m @ 26.1 g/t Au from 306.9m
Resource definition drilling – Phase 2
The Phase 2 drilling program at Aureus East is aimed at the discovery of new gold horizons along with expanding historical horizons and testing those discovered during Phase 1.
Historical drilling at the project has intersected near-surface horizons along trend from at least 1.6 km to the east. Very little exploration has been carried-out laterally and into the limbs of the anticline.
Advanced exploration will be carried out by two drill rigs, and will be limited to a 500m x 500m area proximal the underground openings.
Future exploration programs will expand eastward and beyond the anticline hinge to increase the volume of gold-mineralised rock.
“Finding huge nuggets like the one in hole twenty-six fuels our excitement for exploring in Nova Scotia”
Aureus East mine
Aurelius Minerals purchased the Aureus East mine in February 2020 for USD$8,200,000, with previous owners having invested over $30,000,000 in development.
The mine contains extensive infrastructure including a 300tpd mill and on-site assay laboratory, and is well-served by provincial infrastructure including highways and power.
A review of historical exploration records has shown extensive high-grade intersections that were not modelled in historical resources. The deposit remains open along strike and at depth.
Aurelius Minerals Vice President Exploration Jeremy Niemi said “Finding huge nuggets like the one in hole twenty-six fuels our excitement for exploring in Nova Scotia. Exploring on the flanks of a former gold mine is exciting, and we see incredible opportunity to grow near-surface gold resource with some serious depth potential. By drilling the under-explored limbs with our surface rig, we can add a lot of volume to the gold system, and our underground rig continues to expand the hinge and find new zones at depth.”
