The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is up 63.3 points this morning (18 July) as of 10.45am (AEST), pushing it 1.42% over its index and setting a new 100-day high.
The US market is similarly performing well, with the S&P 500 gaining another 33.66 points to a total of 6,297.36 since reported yesterday by Mining.com.au.
Among eight other sectors scoring higher, the S&P/ASX200 reports the materials sector up 1.43%, seeing a 0.69% increase over the five previous sessions.
PLS (ASX:PLS) is making a comeback from its drop in the last trading session, increasing 6.35% to a share price of $1.67.
Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) is following shortly behind with a 4.48% increase to a trading price of $28.99 per share.
With a 90 day average indicating a 342% volume increase, Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU) is now trading at $5.21 per share, representing a 3.99% jump.
The S&P/ASX200 is Australia’s leading share market index and contains the top 200 ASX-listed companies in terms of market capitalisation, and accounts for about 80% of the country’s equity market.
The index is designed to measure the performance of the 200 largest index-eligible stocks listed on the ASX by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
It is recognised as the institutional investable benchmark in the country.
