Astral Resources intersects gold at multiple prospects within Feysville Project, WA

Perth-based gold and base metals exploration company Astral Resources (ASX:AAR) has intersected ‘significant’ gold mineralisation across multiple prospects within the Feysville Gold Project in Western Australia.

Speaking to Mining.com.au ahead of the Brisbane Mining Investor Conference next week where he will present, Astral Resources Managing Director Marc Ducler says the company is very happy with the results found at Feysville.

The company says first assays from 26 reverse circulation (RC) holes drilled over 2,446m, and 6 of 9 diamond holes completed for 1,411.9m at the Rogan Josh, Hyperno, Ethereal, Rosina, and Think Big prospects have identified ‘promising’ follow-up targets.

‘Significant’ results recorded include FRC215 (Hyperno) with 2m @ 16.09g/t Au from 45m; FRCD202 (Ethereal) with 4.6m @ 3.25g/t Au from 41.4m and 8.25m @ 3.43g/t Au from 58.6m, and 4.2m @ 1.69g/t Au from 128m; as well as FRCD207 (Think Big) with 1m @ 5.70g/t Au from 215m, and 2m @ 2.53g/t Au from 248.5m.

Ducler told this news service there are plenty of opportunities ahead.

“At Feysville we’ve got 116,000 ounces at 1.3g/t and what we want to do with this first drilling, which is the first time we’ve been drilling at Feysville for over 3 years, is to look at all the other prospects that are at Feysville and look at a potential size-of-prize drilling program.

So far we went and drilled a number of targets (including) Rogan Josh, Hyperno, Ethereal, Rosina, Think Big, Kamperman, Michelangelo, Montevesuveo, so we drilled a number of targets there just to look at the potential to find a prized results, and we’ve been actually very happy with the results.

“At a minimum, what we want out of Feysville is an opportunity to build some high-grade ounces to support our flagship Mandilla Project…”

At a minimum, what we want out of Feysville is an opportunity to build some high-grade ounces to support our flagship Mandilla Project, and I think we’ve seen with just this first-pass drilling we’ve got that opportunity at Rogan Josh, and that opportunity at Ethereal.

(At) Think Big we already know there’s a good supergene resource that we can drill out, and there’s even more to learn at Hyperno as well. So yeah, I’d say we’re pretty happy with the results so far.”

Astral also reports RC and DD drilling are ongoing at the Mandilla Gold Project. To date the company has completed 55 RC holes for 7,283.2m of the 25,000m program, and 5 DD holes for 785.5m of the 2,000m program.

This drilling program is focusing on infilling and extending the mineralisation at the Theia and Hestia prospects within Mandilla. At Theia, Astral has completed 5 DD holes to an end-of-hole (EOH) depth total of 1,588.7m including 803.2m of RC pre-collars.

Hole MDCRD645, which was the first DD hole completed in the 2023 drilling program at Mandilla, has visually confirmed additional mineralisation outside the current known mineral resource.

At Hestia, the company has completed 47 RC holes for 6,480m with assays pending for the drill program. Initial results are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Upon completing the Hestia infill program, Astral reports the RC rig will begin testing the ‘high-grade’ trends on the eastern flank of Theia with infill and extensional drilling on the southern portion of Theia. This drilling will also test for fresh rock mineralisation associated with the Eos paleochannel, with 3 DD holes for about 725m, and 114 RC holes for about 18,600m planned for completion prior to the end of the June quarter.

Ducler says drilling will remain focused on Mandilla until at least the end of June, and following that the drill rig will be remobilised to Feysville in the second half of the year.

“The only thing that might change our tactic is we are still waiting for a couple of results from the diamond drilling, and depending on what we see there, that might change our priorities.

But having known we’ve got 1.02 million ounces at Mandilla, that’s where the money is going to get made for us as a business, so that’s still our key focus.

We’re well placed which means we should finish the Hestia infill drilling within the next week or so, that’s for the RC, and then the drill rig will move back to Theia and it will likely drill in excess of 30,000m by the half year, and we’re targeting probably over 60,000m for the whole calendar year.

So it’s going to be a big year of drilling for us, and we’ve been drilling continuously since 10 January.”

Astral Resources is a gold and base metal exploration company based in Perth. The company’s portfolio includes its flagship Mandilla Gold Project near Kambalda in Western Australia, as well as the Feysville Gold Project, and the Carnilya Hill Gold Project near Kalgoorlie.

The Brisbane Mining Investor Conference is an investor event launched in 2018 that provides investors, brokers, and fund managers a better understanding of current investment opportunities in Australia’s mining, energy, and exploration sectors.
