Aspen Technology (NASDAQ:AZPN) has rolled out a new emissions management tool that enables asset-intensive organisations pinpoint and act on key operational areas with the biggest impact on carbon emissions.
The global industrial software firm, which services a range of industries including mining, downstream, power generation, and specialty chemicals, among others, says the trademarked AspenTech Operational Insights unites, correlates, analyses, and visualises company-wide data to assist with real-time decision-making on areas affecting sustainability.
The emissions management technology consolidates data and leverages operational technology applications in the plant and across the entire value chain into a single interface. Companies can then make decisions with a “single pane of glass” view for emissions and abatement.

Marc Poualion, Senior Industry Marketing Manager at Aspen Technology, told Mining.com.au the technology would be particularly useful for the mining industry’s largest emitters as it provides maps and advanced geographical displays; visibility across the value chain; and configurable and consistent interfaces and displays across video walls, consoles, and mobile devices.
“Technology is central to decarbonising global economies and Australia in mining specifically, impacting activities, such as moving to sustainable power generation”
“Technology is central to decarbonising global economies and Australia in mining specifically, impacting activities, such as moving to sustainable power generation, and extracting resources efficiently and safely. The next decade is likely to be focused on driving increased efficiency from current reserves using existing technologies, while scaling the capabilities of technologies being introduced into the market and developing the next generation solutions.”
Ron Beck, Senior Industry Marketing Director at Aspen Technology says mining companies must make far-reaching decisions about emissions including balancing abatement with margins and asset utilisation without having an enterprise view of current and predicted emissions.
Beck told this news service carbon mitigation has become so strategic that there are frequently multiple teams and functions presenting analyses and views of the company’s sustainability challenges and progress to the CXO.
“Hence, AspenTech has launched a new emissions management solution that will accelerate the mining customer’s sustainability initiatives. This solution gives asset intensive mining organisations the ability to pinpoint and act on key operational areas with the biggest impact on their emissions reduction efforts. The new solution features AspenTech Operational Insight, a proven decision support capability that unites, correlates, analyses and visualises data from across an organisation for fast, confident decision-making on those crucial items affecting emissions.”
Peter Reynolds, Senior Industry Analyst at ARC Advisory Group says the new decision support capability essentially addresses the need miners are focused on – the ability to better understand their emissions exposure and to make that actionable for carbon abatement.
Aspen Technology is a global software firm focused on industries at the forefront of the world’s dual challenge to meet the increasing demand for resources from a rapidly growing population in a sustainable manner.
