Matsa Resources (ASX:MAT) has received $1.65 million as AngloGold Ashanti extends its option over the Lake Carey Gold Project until December.
AngloGold Ashanti Australia has paid the third and final option instalment fee of $1.65 million to Matsa Resources under their previously announced Tenements Option Agreement for the Lake Carey Gold Project.
The payment allows AngloGold Ashanti’s option to continue until a final decision to exercise by 20 December 2026, as required under the terms of the agreement.
Matsa has now received a total of $9.5 million from AngloGold Ashanti through option fee instalments and reimbursement of previously incurred tenement-related costs.
The company must now await AngloGold Ashanti’s decision on whether to exercise the option by the December deadline.
The pending decision from AngloGold Ashanti will determine who ultimately owns the Lake Carey Gold Project, a major holding in Matsa’s portfolio.
Matsa Resources continues collecting option fees while retaining project ownership until AngloGold Ashanti decides. The December deadline offers a clear timeline for settling the arrangement.
